This card has been coming up a lot for my clients lately:

The Four of Swords is usually a message that you need to rest, relax, and take some time for yourself.  Ideally, that time should be spent in silent meditation.  Turn off your phone, turn off your computer, take off your iPod, and sit down in a quiet place where you won't be disturbed.  Allow your mind to go blank.  This is very difficult at first because we're conditioned to fill our minds with endless thoughts and worries - "monkey chatter".  As these thoughts come to you, don't fight them - greet them, thank them and let them go on their way.  Just let them pass right through your mind.  Yes, it's hard to learn how, but you CAN do it!

You will be astonished what five or ten minutes of silent meditation every day will do for your well-being.  Not only is the process de-stressing, it's refreshing and inspiring.  My clients - at least, the ones who persevere in this - come back to me and tell me it's changed their lives tremendously.  They are far more peaceful and more in touch with their inner wisdom.  Try it!

It’s interesting this week because the reading is similar to last week’s reading, which is up on my blog. When the cards repeat themselves, it’s an indication that the message is very important!

The first card is The Hanged Man, reversed. You may have been feeling stuck in a rut – unable to make decisions or take any action. This period of stagnation is now ending and you’ll soon be able to move forward.

The second card is The Sun, reversed. This can indicate that you’re entering a period of growth and achievement, IF you are open to it. Be careful not to fall back into the old negative patterns. Fill your mind with positive affirmations and focus on your goals. Make sure you know what you really want, so that you’re moving in the right direction.

Next I’ve drawn the Six of Cups, reversed. I see this as a clarification of the previous card. It suggests that some of the restrictions that have been causing you problems are related to the negative patterns of old relationships – perhaps connected to your family, or a past love affair. Now you’re at a place in your life where you need to cut the ties with the past and move on to something new and constructive. Change is Good!

For others, it may mean that you’re entering a new phase of peace and satisfaction in which everything is coming together for you. This is a time to kick back and enjoy the successes in your life.

After all the positive energy of that card, the second card is a bit of a letdown: it’s The Five of Swords. This card has a sneaky, underhanded feel to it and can mean that someone around you is talking behind your back or trying to tear you down. Someone may be resenting your success. Be careful whom you trust. And be grateful for your good fortune.

The first card is The Tower, reversed. This card could represent a major upheaval – a big, surprising shakeup in your life. This could be an unexpected move, a job change, a breakup of a relationship – something where the rug is pulled out from under you. Since the card is reversed, my sense is that this big change may have recently happened for some of you. For others, it may be on the horizon. While this upheaval may be painful and shocking, it’s a necessary change. The old structure wasn’t helping you anymore. It’s time to rebuild and move on.

The second card is The Moon. Now, this card came up in last week’s reading too, which says to me that it’s a very important card for people right now. The Moon can indicate that you’re plagued by anxiety and confusion – which is to be expected in the situation represented by The Tower card. The Moon is a wakeup call to be careful about falling for an illusion. Trust your intuition.

You’ll need to trust your intuition to tell you what is reality and what is a false illusion. You may be receiving important information in your dreams. The second card I’ve drawn is The Ace of Swords, reversed. In the upright position, this card can mean that you’ll be having a brilliant new idea. Reversed, it may suggest that you’ll need to do some more work before the idea can manifest fully. Swords can also indicate a combative, harsh situation, and I get the sense with this card that you would be wise to avoid arguments and confrontations this week. Try to avoid thinking in black-and-white terms. Bite your tongue and pick your battles.

If you find yourself having to make an important life decision this week, especially one related to a romance or a family or business relationship, be sure to consider all the factors very carefully before taking the plunge. Balancing different interests is key here.
